Case study: PRIMaRe O&M
The Peninsula Research Institute for Marine Renewable Energy (PRIMaRE) is a response from the Universities of Exeter and Plymouth to the challenges facing businesses involved in marine renewable energy and in support of Wave Hub, the South West of England’s £42 million development centre for testing of wave energy device arrays.
PRIMaRE collaborates with industry to support research and development activity across a number of areas e.g., design, engineering, environmental impact and grid connection.
Mojo Maritime has collaborated on several projects with PRIMaRE including:
- Analysis of mooring requirements for a tidal turbine using OrcaFlex software based on vessel dimensions, environmental conditions / loadings and anchoring methods
- Installation of 4 wave data buoys off the North Cornwall coast and subsequent interventions for maintenance
- Installation the SWMTF buoy off the South Cornwall coast
